How to Style a Silk Corset for Festive Season and Weddings

A corset in Indian silk sits right between traditional and modern, which is exactly why it works so well for festive season and weddings. One piece can go to a Diwali card party, a mehendi and a cocktail night, just by changing what you pair it with.

Here are five ways we love to style ours.

1. With a lehenga skirt (mehendi, sangeet, wedding functions)

Swap a traditional blouse for a corset and your lehenga instantly feels new. A structured silk corset gives a clean, defined waist, and you can re-wear the corset on its own long after the wedding.

Try: the Ivy Draped Corset with a lehenga skirt. Its deep-green cotton silk, zari motifs and draped overlay with a flared peplum add drama while keeping the waist defined.

2. As a saree blouse (Diwali, pujas, family dinners)

Draping a saree over a corset is one of the easiest ways to modernise a saree you already own. Keep the pleats neat, let the corset do the structure, and skip the extra layers.

Try: the Élan Corset as your saree blouse. Its ivory tissue silk and woven golden motifs pick up the zari on the saree's border and pallu.

3. With tailored trousers (cocktail nights, festive office parties)

High-waisted trousers or palazzos with a silk corset look polished and effortless. This is the outfit for when you want festive, but not fussy.

Try: the Opaline Corset with wide-leg trousers. Its full organza sleeves do all the talking.

4. With denim (day events, casual Diwali get-togethers)

Yes, really. A silk corset with straight jeans and juttis or block heels is the easiest way to dress up without dressing up. It also makes your festive piece earn its place in your everyday wardrobe.

5. Go for a corset dress (when you want one piece and done)

If you don't want to think about pairing at all, a corset dress gives you the same structured, sculpted look in one piece.

Try: the Lumina Dress, handwoven cotton silk with zari stripes, for daytime functions, or the Juliet Dress in blush pink brocade for brunches, roka ceremonies and evening celebrations.

Jewellery tips

  • Sweetheart or curved necklines: a choker or layered necklace that sits above the neckline.
  • Strapless corsets: statement jhumkas or chandbalis, and keep the neck bare.
  • Full sleeves: skip the bangles and let the sleeves be the statement.

A note on fit

A corset should feel snug and supportive, not tight. Check our size chart before ordering, and if you're between sizes, email us your measurements at fashion@houseofkashi.co.in and we'll help you choose.
